June's Reflection
June Reflections: From Burnout to Boundaries, and Everything In Between
This past month reminded me that clarity doesn’t always come from stillness, it often emerges through momentum, fatigue, and learning to pause with purpose.
Recovery as a Teacher
May I started June with recovery on my mind, and in my body. After walking 310km in May, the first week of June was defined by exhaustion. My body was clear: You’ve gone too far. And my worn-out shoes agreed.
Breaking in new walking shoes during Week Two reinforced a lesson many of us in business know all too well: when we ignore the need for support or upgrades, something eventually gives.
That first week offered something rare for me: space. Not just to rest, but to notice, adjust, and ultimately, grow.

Growth in Good Company
June was full, not just with steps walked, but with real progress in the business. I welcomed new clients, sent and won proposals, networked with purpose, and even learned to take time out midweek after working over a weekend. For someone used to “always being on,” this recalibration was both new and necessary.
Two standout events reminded me how much learning fuels what I do:
- Elevate Your Communication Skills with Phill Khan-Panni, an engaging session blending storytelling with practical takeaways. Being in a room with growth-minded professionals was a timely reminder: clarity is a shared journey, not a solo mission.
- Generative AI Essentials Training with Christopher Plant helped me shift from curiosity to confidence in using AI strategically. It affirmed my belief that technology should serve clarity, not clutter it.

Holding Space for Hard Conversations
A screening of Can’t Look Away, a powerful documentary about the impact of social media algorithms on young people, left me emotionally charged. The panel discussion that followed, featuring voices from CyberSafeKids and the Children’s Rights Alliance, raised a sobering question:
In ten years, will we wish we’d done more?
I’m not a parent, but I’m an aunt, and my niece’s and nephew’s futures matter. As someone who coaches leaders, I know how quietly systems can erode confidence, priorities, and connection. Awareness must lead to action.

A Year On: Full Circle with PSA
On 21st June, I attended the Professional Speaking Association (PSA). It’s an inclusive community where everyone is welcome, and if you’ve never been before, I highly recommend going as a guest at least once to see if it’s the right fit for you. That’s exactly what I did a year ago, I signed up that very evening and haven’t looked back since.
The support, encouragement, and learning opportunities within the PSA are truly invaluable. In fact, I delivered my first speaker talk in May 2025, and the feedback I received was incredibly helpful for my growth.

Supervision, Systems and a Splash of Cinema and Sun
June also included group supervision. As coaches, we hold space for others, but this is the space where we get to be held. Candid conversations in a safe, non-judgmental environment help us grow sharper, kinder, and more accountable.
On the systems front, I explored a new tool to support my business’s growth, part of my ongoing love of tech and learning. I’ve always believed that learning is growth in motion.
I also attended the IoD Ireland Lunch Bites event with Commissioner Michael McGrath, a fantastic opportunity to listen, learn, and reflect on governance, leadership, and the future of ethical business.
And because no month is complete without joy, I made time for a girls’ dinner, celebrated my partner’s birthday at the cinema (highly recommend the new F1 movie!), and soaked up the best of Ireland’s early summer sunshine.

Podcasting Debut: Stepping Into a New Arena
A big milestone this month was recording my very first podcast interview. I had the incredible opportunity to sit down with the brilliant Jean Evans for her #IgniteTalks series.
We dove into my business journey, building, selling, reinventing, and it was a joy to reflect and share lessons that I hope others find valuable. Jean’s warmth and skillful guidance made the experience effortless.

Final Thoughts: Rest Is Part of the Work
June reminded me of something I often say to clients but needed to relearn myself: rest isn’t a reward, it’s part of the work.
When we push through signs of strain, whether it's tired feet, overloaded calendars, or worn-down systems, we risk more than discomfort. We risk losing sight of what we’re building, and why.
As we step into July, I’m taking one more learning with me: block the reading time. When I read, I reflect. And when I reflect, I realign.
Here’s to another month of meaningful work, smarter rest, deeper learning, and staying unmistakably clear on the future we want.
If you’re at a crossroads, wondering if it’s time to Step Up or Step Out, know that clarity is within reach.
Let’s Make it possible.
