August's Reflection: A Splendid End to Summer – Reflections, Decisions & New Directions
A Splendid End to Summer
What a splendid end to the summer. The weather was beautiful, and I got so much done, personally and professionally.
Testing a 4-Day Work Week
It began with a bold experiment: a 4-day work week. I wanted to see if it could work for me long-term. It did. So well, in fact, that I’ve officially changed my working hours going forward. That extra space allowed me to catch up on office work, update my website (and learn new skills in the process), and make some of the biggest decisions I’ve faced in a while.
Refocusing My Business
After much reflection, I’ve realigned my business focus to be 100% on executive coaching and business consulting. This meant finishing up with a number of clients, which wasn’t easy but as the saying goes, when one door closes, another opens. I had been procrastinating over this decision for some time, and now that it’s made, I feel lighter, clearer, and more aligned. The universe tested me, and I finally chose the path that feels right.
Lessons in Trust
I also learned a tough lesson, taking on a job based on trust, without a contract. It was a hard experience, but it gave me the push I needed to reassess the kind of work I want to do. Some work is thankless, and that’s not the future I envision.
Energising Conversations
On the brighter side, I had energising 1:1s, lunches, coffees, and dinners with inspiring business minds. We shared challenges, wins, and advice. These conversations reminded me how powerful connection and collaboration can be.
Strength Training & Silent Walks
Personally, I’ve completed 6 weeks of strength training and I’m loving it. The trainers are fantastic, the community is supportive, and the encouragement is real. I’ve also been taking long walks, no podcasts, no music, just silence and nature. It’s amazing how clarity comes when you least expect it.
Weekend Escapes in Ireland
To top it all off, I enjoyed two gorgeous weekends away in Mayo and Cork with lovely friends. We visited Roscommon Castle (highly recommend!), learned to fish, built sandcastles, took a boat to Cape Clear Island, and indulged in goat’s ice cream. There were naps, giggles, and plenty of sunshine.
Looking Ahead
Here’s to change, clarity, and choosing the work and life, that feels good.
Let’s Make it possible.
